Sacraments

The United Methodist Church recognizes Holy Communion and baptism as holy sacraments, because they were instituted by Jesus as means of bestowing the grace of God upon the recipient.

We believe that Christians have a Biblical responsibility to take part in these two holy sacraments.

BAPTISM- Jesus himself was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:29-34); and, just before His ascension, He instructed His disciples to continue baptizing (Matthew 28:19). Jesus also instituted the celebration of Holy Communion, when He broke bread with His followers on the night before His crucifixion (Matthew 26:25-29, Mark 14:21-25, Luke 22:15-21, 1 Corinthians 11:23-25). The sacraments are open to all. Jesus invites all who truly and earnestly repent of their sins and seek to live in peace with one another!

HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated at TheJOURNEY on the 1st Sunday morning of every month and on other special days. All individuals who accept God’s Grace through Jesus Christ are invited to take communion, including young children or those who are otherwise unable to respond for themselves. Everyone is invited to participate in this beautiful celebration of Jesus’ life and resurrection! Ushers will be available to assist those with special needs. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with special dietary needs. Please alert your server.
